Tuition

Tuition covers weekly lessons over a nine month period September to May. June to August are billed separately depending on which options and programs you may choose.

Invoicing is by semester. Payments are due in advance at the time of registration by EMT (Email Money Transfer), credit card, Paypal, cash or cheque

Enrollment mid-semester is pro-rated to reflect the number of lessons remaining in the semester. You are not billed for weeks of lessons that are not scheduled on the calendar. E.g. Christmas and Easter break  is not included in the number of lessons for the semester. Please note you are also not paying for the weeks of lessons in a month, but the lessons in a semester.

Payment

We prefer online payments via EMT or Paypal, though we accept cash and cheques. If you opt not to pay annually or for a semester in full, we require monthly installments by recurring email transfer payment, post-dated cheques, a recurring credit card payment,  OR keeping a credit card on file.

Payments must be made the last week of each month or each semester so that they are received in advance of the next session's lessons.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE: We have 3 payment options. All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD).

1: Pay annually covering 9 months September to May

2: Pay by the semester with due dates of September 2 for Fall and January 2 for Winter

3: Monthly installments due by the 1st of each month, one month in advance payable the last week of each month.
If a student wishes to terminate lessons one month's paid notice must be given in writing.

Missed Lessons

No refunds will be given for missed lessons. There will be absolutely no make-up lessons given for no-shows, birthday parties, vacations, athletic conflicts, sniffles, homework, etc…

Lessons will only be rescheduled for sudden illness or extreme emergencies. You may reschedule a lesson by visiting the online calendar and choosing one of our available lesson slots.

The teacher reserves the right to reschedule due to performances, illness or professional development conferences. This will be minimal.

Recitals

Two recitals will be held each year. One just prior to Christmas break and another at year-end. Exact dates to be set as soon as confirmed. Recitals will be online and presented on YouTube Premiere or live on Zoom.

Performances

All students are encouraged to enjoy participation in two studio recitals. Students are also encouraged to take advantage of other performing opportunities for which the teacher and parents/student feel the student is prepared. While studio recitals are strongly encouraged, participation in the Kiwanis Music Festival and Royal Conservatory or Conservatory Canada exams are entirely optional.

Miscellaneous

All students are required to have a well-maintained instrument. In addition, students beyond their first year should have a metronome. Besides actual physical metronomes there are many fine metronome apps out there.

Ukulele students should have a tuner (such as Snark) or access to a tuner app.

Every piano should be tuned once or twice a year (depending on usage and conditions) in order to promote a well-trained musical ear and also to motivate good practice habits. We recommend Douglas Gaulton (722-1979) who regularly tunes our pianos.

Parents are welcome to quietly observe their child's lesson and participate when invited by the teacher.

The policies outlined above are in accordance with the policies of the Newfoundland and Labrador Registered Music Teachers' Association (an affiliate of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Association). If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call, text or email. To avoid interruptions, there will be an answering service during lesson times. All calls and messages will be returned as soon as possible.
